Ingredients:
*2 teaspoons of fresh or dried ginger
*2 whole cloves
*1 to 2 cardamom pods
*15 to 20 slices of astragalus root or 2 to 3 tablespoons of dried
*2 teaspoons of dried orange peel (get organic if possible or make your own)
*Cinnamon to taste
*2 ½ cups of water
* milk or milk substitute (optional)
Directions:
Place all ingredients in a pot and bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover the pan and simmer for at least 20 minutes. Strain, add milk or milk substitute as desired. Use honey or maple syrup to sweeten. Drink within a day.
All the herbs in this recipe are immune building. Use the herbs you prefer and make you own recipe for your family! Drinking a cup a day for adults is safe for the duration of the flu and cold season.
NOTE: Most children cannot tolerate strong herbs. I would suggest not adding the ginger or cloves to a recipe designed for kids. Also reduce the amount of herbs used by half. Three times a week is enough during the cold and flu season.
